- The biggest recess for students is when they get their degrees as a result of many years of persistent, hard work. Special recognition goes to the more than 1,300 students who participated in epidemiological protection through their exemplary work. They are bidding farewell to an institution that has always endured difficult times, it has always worked continuously despite times of war, revolution, economic crisis and the current pandemic. A crisis situation tests adaptability and leads to innovation, which in turn has led to the development and application of online or hybrid teaching techniques, and although students have graduated in more difficult circumstances, this only adds to the value of their degree.
The University of Debrecen is at the forefront of international rankings, is economically stable and has been able to remain on an intensive development path driven by strong adaptability and innovation, said József Tőzsér, Deputy Rector for Health Industry Innovation and Training Development at the University of Debrecen.
621 candidates passed their final examinations on BSc level, 367 on MSc, 164 in full-time training and 302 in further training at the Faculty of Health, Dentistry, Child Education and Special Education, Pharmacy, Engineering and Public Health of the University of Debrecen. A total of over 1,400 students were said farewell to at the third closing ceremony of the University of Debrecen. After the graduates made their vows, some of them symbolically received their degrees from the university management on behalf of their fellow students.
In his ceremonial speech, István Csont, President of the Student Government of the University of Debrecen, emphasized that a good university provides its students with knowledge, not only degrees. This was entirely valid for the University of Debrecen in an academic year when everybody had to work harder for everything than usual.
- The pandemic generated changes that could not have been foreseen, hence we could not prepare for it, yet professionalism, and the desire for teaching and learning drove university citizens forward. The university created the conditions for distance education perfectly, as a result which a direct and interactive educational process took place in the institution. Graduates can be competitive with their diplomas they received after the trainings, they can effectively combine their knowledge, and with these qualities they can weather the dangers of the near future, the President of DEHÖK emphasized.
At the end of the festive end-of-year ceremony, the award of the Student Government of the University of Debrecen and the Outstanding Student of the University of Debrecen were handed over awarded (Kis Daiana Jesica, Health Care and Prevention Nurse, Lívia Leveleki, student of dentistry at the Faculty of Dentistry, Csilla Lilla Polgár, Child Education and Special Education and Zsanett Enikő Csorba, student of pharmacy of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Róbert Czirják, architecture student of the Faculty of Engineering, and Vanda Ander, physiotherapist student of the Faculty of Public Health.
In recognition of the high-quality teaching, research and scientific activities in the service of the University of Debrecen, the university awarded an honorary title to Zoltán Ács, the founding co-owner and managing director of Meditop Gyógyszeripari Kft., Dávid Greskovits, managing director and President of the Association of Hungarian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, Ildikó Ferencz, Senior Research Fellow, Ministerial Commissioner for Space, József Legoza, deputy chief medical officer, Hajdú-Bihar County Government Office, Lajos Barcsa, Director of Informatics Technical School of Debrecen, Ádám Kamrás, application engineer of Beckhoff Automation Kft, head of the automation laboratory at the Department of Mechatronics of the University of Debrecen, Gergő Lencsés, master lecturer at the Institute of Engineering and Business Development Innovation of the University of Debrecen, as well as to István Sallai, chief instructor of the Department of Aviation Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen.
