    Education

    • the Faculty – its center functioning in Nyíregyháza, Hungary – is an educational unit of the University of Debrecen

    • the Faculty is closely connected to the parent establishment, at the same time it collaborates with other colleges of Nyíregyháza, the College of Nyíregyháza and the St. Atanaz Greek Catholic Theological Academy

    • besides the training of district nurses, the Faculty made a pledge to run a branch for the training of social workers from the very first moment of its functioning and to make the arrangements for the health information management branch

    • besides the organization of two branches, that had no previous traditions in Hungary, in the fourth year, the Faculty began the training of qualified nurses


    Research

    • over the past 15 years, the Faculty has created the basic conditions for high-level research activities and participated in several comparative research projects realized through international cooperation

    • in 1998 the Faculty launched the book series Scientific Proceedings, an outlet for publishing the results of the research carried out at the Faculty

    • in 2010, the journal Acta Medicinae et Sociologica was founded



    Brief History of training at the Faculty of Health

    • 1990: the year of foundation with a center in Nyíregyháza

    • 1996: became the Health College Faculty

    • from 2000 on: became a faculty of the integrated University of Debrecen with Nyíregyháza and Debrecen training centers

    • 2002: introduction of credit based training and Neptun registering systems

    • the Bachelor degree programs were established in the academic year of 2005/2006.

    • In the academic year of 2006/2007 all degree programs – one BA and four BScs – were started as a realization of the Bologna Process

    • from September 2007, after the Hungarian Accreditation Committee accepted the first Master program of the Faculty (Master of Social Health Care), the institute earned the name University of Debrecen Faculty of Health.
